So here we go:
On Easter Sunday, I went to brunch at the Hudson House. The problem at the Hudson House has always been a great one to have: do you get the amazing eggs Benedict or stray and try something else? Now the problem is even worse. The “something else” includes such tempting items as this HH Country Breakfast: two eggs any style, country ham, house english muffin, sausage cream gravy. The muffins are made in house, and chef Christopher Dunn’s sausage cream gravy puts many Southern versions to shame.
Here’s the other problem. Now there are not only the best regular eggs Benedict, there’s another choice — what I’m calling “Fancy Eggs Benedict.” They come with prosciutto, pencil asparagus, grilled artichokes, english muffin and truffle vinaigrette. Seriously people? A Mason jar? I don’t usually drink for brunch; I have plenty enough of my fair share with dinner. But when I saw a tray of these babies go by, I couldn’t resist. I split this with Greg.

Greg got this soup to start. It’s a sausage and corn chowder, a special.
It was creamy but chunky with vegetables.
Grandmom and mom both got French Toast. It’s challah bread with apples and cinnamon and apple wood smoked bacon:
Crispy bacon — so brittle it shatters in your teeth. Just the way I like it. The French toast is light and airy with a nice batter of eggy love.
I got the Fancy Eggs Benedict:
I love artichokes. I love asparagus. I love truffle. What’s not to love?

The room is one of the best in Rockland County.
A tin ceiling that soars. Red banquettes with brass rails. And that mural! That big mural of the Hudson:
And on a nice day, you can sit out on the sidewalk and watch the world go by.
Try brunch at the Hudson House. You won’t be disappointed.
