A Delicious Post-Holiday Dinner at The Cookery

I met my friends Janet and Jerry for supper at The Cookery in Dobbs Ferry, and we were spoiled to death by chef David DiBari, who sent out such tasty dishes as this creamy white polenta and eggs with prosciutto di parma.

Hi Jerry!

And here’s Janet and me:

We started with a bunch of small plates, including the polpetti, or meatballs:

And this special, a braised treviso with pancetta and cheese:

One of the flatbread pizzas:

And this insane dish of buttery salty potaotes, with parmigiano and slovenian fleur de sel:

All the dishes were terrific, but these were so good I declared them illegal. Cheesy, buttery and crisp on the outside, and soft and puffy and airy on the inside. Yowza!

Dave sent out a mid-course of the special pasta of the evening, strozzapreti with butternut squash:

Also insane. Just not quite illegal.

For our mains, Janet got the branzino:

Sorry about the horrible blur! I thought I had it, but I must have moved. Obviously I moved. But you can just barely see the potatoes in the back? Just as good, but without all the butter and cheese. Delish.

Jerry and I got pasta. He had the always terrific lamb bolognese with mint:

And I had this pasta — and it was a special and I can’t remember what it was! I know it had crispy breadcrumbs:

We also had a bunch of desserts.

Banana risotto with nutella and toasted hazelnut

Actually, not my favorite.

A warm chocolate pudding with pretzels:

Pretty good!

A warm pumpkin cake:

This one would have been my favorite if it weren’t for this one:

Pumpkin gelato. All those crunchies and nuts were my downfall.

Another fine, fine meal at The Cookery.
