Easter Dinner No. 1: Les Gilberts

For our first Easter dinner, we enjoyed a lovely ham from Edward’s of Surry, Va. at the home of Peggy and Jim, whom we like to refer to lovingly as Les Gilberts.

Happy Easter, family!

Peggy and Jim have an Aga cooker, a cast-iron behemoth that stays hot all the time. Peggy gives us tour a la Vanna White:

The ham rests on top of the Aga:

Here’s Amanda, Peggy and Jim’s daughter:

(Sorry about the eyes closed thing.)

We viewed the garden from the porch:

Amanda’s son Charlie is very busy with a lizard or dinosaur of some sort:

Back in the house, here is the dining room:

Supper on the buffet. Ham:

Asparagus:

Scalloped potatoes:

Peas:

I forgot to photograph the biscuits, but they were delishy. My plate:

A spring bouquet from the garden:

And a lovely time was had by all. Right, Jim?

(That’s Amanda’s daugheter, Maggie, hugging her sea creature pillow.)

I’m sorry I didn’t get a photo of La Famille Gilberts all together! Happy Easter.
