Supper at Butterfield 8 in White Plains

Marissa and I met for sips and snacks at BU 8, a new gastropub in White Plains. I’m loving the concept — upscale twists on bar food — but I think the execution needs a little work yet. Dirty Chips, for example, is a cool take on nachos: smoked bacon, blue cheese fondue, crispy chicken livers, tomato, green onion. But it ended up being a little too much. Too rich, too gloppy, too dirty!

A little editing and this could be very good indeed. The thin-crust pizza and the mussels were much more successful. (Darn, too, cause I wanted to love the Dirty Chips.) More — plus Marissa! — after the jump.

Pooks at the bar:

They had a great wine list, including a rosé I like quite a bit.

The room:

Mussels were yum. Fresh and hearty with good broth.

The pizza was tasty enough. A good version, especially for a bar.

The jury is still out here. I like the room, the menu looks good. Let’s just give them a bit to get on their feet.

The 411 on Butterfield 8.
