Sunday Supper at the Farm

Sunday Supper at the Farm

It hasn’t yet been warm enough to dine on the new patio, but the Ranchers joined us to christen it with cocktails this evening. Aviations all around!

For supper, we were serving smoked chicken, salad from the garden and a butternut squash tagine. We thought this Vouvray would make a nice pairing.

Our centerpiece: Figures of Speech. You know how things go here at the farm.

The tasting notes for the wine,  2002 Gauthier-Lhomme Domaine du Viking Vouvray Tendre,  from the Zachys’ web site:

92 points Wine Spectator: “Off-dry at first impression, with green almond, fig and pear flavors, this gives way to a more cut on the back end, with floral and candied ginger notes. Long, minerally finish. An absolute steal at this price. Drink now through 2020. 2,000 cases made.

We would agree. Golden and rich, viscous but not sweet. A terrific match with our meal:

We retired to the living room after supper for another fire. Good times.
