Vermeer and George Saunders

After our lunch at Rotisserie Georgette, we walked up to the Frick Collection, where the Dutch Masters show was on loan from the Mauritshuis. We saw the famous “Girl with the Pearl Earring,” which was hung in a gallery all by itself (and it was still crowded) and the now super-famous Goldfinch, along with Rembrants and others. It’s not the kind of art we usually go to see, and it was a nice change.

We decided to become members because the lines were so long (no photos were allowed in the museum, but I should have taken a photo of the line! it wrapped around the block.) So we’ll be learning more about Vermeer this year (there are 3 in the collection there).

After the museum, we headed downtown to McNally & Jackson bookstore to meet Boo, who was organizing a photo shoot of George Saunders.

He was there for a reading and signing and a “discussion” with Ben Stiller, whom we also saw.
