Morning at Maple Terrace

When we booked a hotel in the Berkshires, we had a dream. We would put Sam to bed, then take a bottle of wine (and the monitor) across the parking lot to the little cluster of Adirondack chairs in the garden and enjoy an evening of stargazing.

Alas, it rained. lj091315motel02

Good for puddle jumping, though!

Instead, we sat quietly in the only two chairs in the motel room and read our iPads, slowly sipping a little rose until we felt sleepy. It was an early night.

Despite our disappointment with the weather, we couldn’t have been happier with the motel. The place is a bit stuck in the 1970s — except for iPhone charger alarm clocks — but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the grounds are beautiful.

There’s a big lawn with a pool out back, and it overlooks a horse paddock.lj091315motel05 lj091315motel06 lj091315motel07 lj091315motel08 lj091315motel09 lj091315motel10 lj091315motel11 lj091315motel12 lj091315motel13 lj091315motel14We had fun wandering around.lj091315motel15

And we even found an apple tree (look at all those apples that fell!).lj091315motel16 lj091315motel17

A recommendation, for sure.
