A Visit to Indian Point

To get to know some of the places we cover a little better, it was arranged that editors take a tour of Indian Point.

It made for an early morning commute that took me across one of the most beautiful spans across the Hudson River, the Bear Mountain Bridge:

After many security checkpoints, we went to a conference room that overlooked the plant:

Afterwards, we went into the depths of the plant. My colleague Frank describes it well in his essay here on lohud.com: Indian Point brings editors inside the controversial plant.

I was really taken with how cold war the whole thing felt. The epitome of modernity at the time, the atomic future, today feels like the past.
