Fried Chicken and Champagne

We’ve started a very cool program at called Insider. It’s free for subscribers, who just have to activate their membership to turn on all sorts of cool benefits, invitations and discounts.

One of these was a Fried Chicken and Champagne dinner at DVine Bar in Sparkill. Insiders had the chance to win tickets to this very cool (and very delicious). event. Four lucky winners (and their dates) got a table near the front, and enjoyed four courses, paired with wines.


It was a ton of fun to meet some new food fans, and share some terrific food and wine. And how cool to give 8 people a free dinner!


It was a sold-out event.  Joe, the owner, (a friend of the farm who has been planning this restaurant for as long as we’ve been friends) and the chef, Chris Holland, came up with a terrific menu. Fun, fancy-free and funny.

The first course, butternut squash soup with crispy pork belly & creme fraiche, paired with “Francois Montand” Brut:


 The second course, grilled king oyster mushroom and ginger-infused sushi rice with charred scallion & micro wasabi greens, paired with “Banzai Bunny” sparkling sake:
Course three: smoked fried chicken with smoked bleu mac & cheese and apple celery salad with buffalo BBQ sauce dressing, paired with “Champagne Moutard” grande cuvée:
