Katonah Reading Room

This bahn mi will change your life.

It’s served, not at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, or from a street vendor. But at an adorable (maybe even a little too twee) cafe in Katonah, N.Y.

I present the Katonah Reading Room.

Just around the corner from the train station, with delicious baked goods, a few tables, and yes, a bookshelf or two. Megan and I stopped there for lunch.

There wasn’t a seat to be had inside, so we ate on the porch.

And we ate well.

The bread is soft; it gives when you bite in. The pork is spicy, but just. The carrots and herbs are fresh. The mayo is creamy. And the jalapeno pulls it all together.
