A Harvest Costume Party at Church

The parish will be marking the 150th anniversary of Grace Church throughout the year. But we started it off with a Harvest Party, where you were invited to dress as if you were from any of the 15 decades that people have been worshipping at the church. Greg and I chose the 1920s. Mostly because of the influence of our new favorite show, Boardwalk Empire.

We started, naturally, with cocktails. At home. Aviations for the crowd. Greg tastes:

The cast. Mom and Leigh and Jim and Peggy, otherwise affectionately known as Les Gilberts.

Later, at the church, I snapped these fun photos of partygoers, including Kris and Tom:

At the end of the evening, Greg made up a little rhyme set to song. Imagine the tune loosely based on “One More Saturday Night” with a bit of rock a billy and showtunes in it:

The Baptists don’t do it
The Jews don’d do it
The Catholics don’t do it (except for bingo!)
Episcopal Saturday Night

Happy 150th, Grace!
