Friday Night at Barcel

Cafe Barcel in Nyack is quickly becoming our go-to restaurant when we don’t feel like cooking. It’s just about the closest restaurant you can walk to from the farm, and the food is so darn good. Plus, they recently started pouring txacoli by the glass. Which is a big bonus in my book. This visit, we discovered a seasonal specialty: soft shell crabs!

So yes. I got that. It was served with macadamia nuts and a citrus brown butter sauce. Yowza it was good.

Funny comment that came along afterwards on my Small Bites blog. I wrote that the soft shells were in season, and asked if readers would tell me where else they’re seeing them. One reader said that she wanted them at Barcel, but was just one order too late — and that order was mine!
