Coffee and Cocktails
For brekky Saturday morning, we had English muffins and fruit — strawberries from the farmers market and watermelon from the grocery store.

That’s all fine and dandy. But what till you see what else we were whipping up.

Henna Tattoos Take a While To Dry
No, we hadn't been drinking. These tattoos are not permanent. They’re made from henna, and will fade away in a month or so. But they do take some time to dry, as Greg found out after he got one on his arm — underneath his shirt sleeve. He declared himself “a nimrod.”

To Irene's, for Caiparinhas and Squash Blossoms
The Farm’s friend and neighbor Irene had some people over for drinks Saturday night. We headed over about 9 with squash blossoms from the farm.

Drinks After Work
I got back in the grind Tuesday — working late on a fun project that's going to map all the food destinations in the villages we visit. My friend and colleague Rory and I grabbed a couple drinks at Sunset Grille, a Mexican restaurant in White Plains. I guess I still had the Texas bug.
One Last Dip in the Pool
After lunch, we headed back to Barton Springs for napping in the sunshine. That’s our posse on the hill — the last people on the right.
Mae's First Museum
My trip to Texas wasn't all just tacos and time off. We sneaked a little culture in there, and Mae actually enjoyed it.
Catching Up with the Family
Mae was the star of the afternoon when we visited our aunt Janie and uncle Richard in Round Rock. We were in luck that our cousins Michael and Cathy were visiting with their children, so it was a mini family reunion. Here’s Kristen, Michael’s wife, with her daughter Madeleine reaching out to Mae and two of Cathy’s daughters, Anna and Caroline.
Farmers Market Loot, June 16
We headed out to South Austin to the farmers market, where we found heirloom tomatoes were in season. They also had peaches and corn. Coming to Texas in June isn’t as bad as I thought it might be!
Friday Night at the Sister Outpost
We began with rosé and hors d’oeuvres and ended with takeout pizza and giggles. All the makings of a fine night, indeed.
To the Natural Springs for a Cool Down
Actually, amazingly, the temperature wasn’t too high while I was in Texas — high 80s, low 90s, which is a blessing for Sarah, who tells me it’s been in the 100s since May. But we still wanted to head to Barton Springs, a natural springs in Zilker Park. Of course, Mae was darling, as usual.
Heading to The Sister Outpost in Texas
I believe some of you may remember that Sarah from the sister outpost in Texas had a darling baby girl in March. Here's the announcement. Well it was high time I hightailed down there to meet the little one.
The Farm Goes to the Yale Club
Our friends Alan and Linda invited the Farm and the Ranch to dine at the Yale Club Thursday. The dinner was conviently planned to take advantage of an appearance there by Jacques Pepin.

Florence is a City in ... Arizona?

Florence is the prison capital of the Grand Canyon State, as well as the home of my good friends Dixie and Pedro.
