From Our Neighbors on the Prairie
The Farm's good friend Paula — whom you might remember from such classic SCF posts as Food on Sticks and Going to Minnesota — had the chance to pick some sour cherries on her own. I've been remiss in sharing her gorgeous photographs from the experience.
Here's her email to me:
Julia is my neighbor across the alley and she has several fruit trees in her tiny city yard...an edible red apple (not sure what variety), a crab apple and that huge sour cherry!

They were beautiful in the spring, flowering pink and white and now the cherry is loaded to the gills with fruit, ripe for the pickin'!

She told me to take as many as I wanted, so I grabbed a bowl, a ladder and my camera and went to town. I have a ton and I think they will go into a pie – possibly jam, SCF style!
