Income Tax Cocktail
We’re always late sending in our income tax information. Our accountant tells us that we have to have our forms and questionnaire in by Feb. 28. Unfailingly, we wait until the middle of March to gather all the paperwork. Well, you know how it goes on the Farm: government subsidies to consider, amortizing the loan for the John Deere, all the schedule Cs for the workers. It takes a while. We finally got it done this week.
By happenstance, we were paging through a favorite recipe book, Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails by Ted “Dr. Cocktail” Haigh, when we found the perfect drink for celebrating our accomplishment.

At 6 o’clock nearly every Saturday, a visitor to Sour Cherry Farm would find a fire in the fireplace, a cocktail on the coffee table and the the computer tuned to Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. What’s on the stove depends on what was in the larder. This week it was Penne Carbonara.
