Sarah and the girls and I headed to Frank, the artisan hot dog place in Austin, for lunch on Thursday. All in all, good food. But something about the atmosphere was a little annoying. For one thing, it was super-loud. And echo-y. It made it hard to get comfortable and settle in for what turned out to be some really good grub. Plus, bonus points for how cute the bar is:
But, being with kids — and having just got finished with a big walk around Town Lake — we sat in the dining room.
Couple pretty cool signs painted right on the brick, and hanging on the wall:
Sarah and Jane:
Mae in her chair:
And here’s her posing. I’m not sure, but she might be holding her breath:
Now she’s being silly with straws:
And now she’s really playing with straws:
I think you’ll agree we were all pretty happy when the food came. Here’s the currywurst:
Really tasty. And here’s the chili cheese dog:
Sarah got the Hot Polish, with Vienna beef Polish sausage, spicy Dusseldorf mustard, sauerkraut:
And we shared a few sides. Here’s the Corn Cup, Grilled corn served off the cob with chili mayonesa, lime juice, cilantro and cotija cheese:
Really freakin’ good.
Here’s Broccoli Salad, Toasted almonds, bacon, red onion and dressing:
Good but I thought it would be blanched. It was just raw. And too cold.
And natch, we had to get waffle fries:
They just go so good with hot dogs, don’t you think?
