This year, instead of our usual white lights and homemade ornaments, Greg took the tree in a different direction. He bought those new LED colored lights — the big, retro ones that look like they’re from the 1950s but don’t get really hot and burn the tree down — and hung the tree entirely with Grandmom’s collection of Christopher Radko ornaments.
He also got a new handblown glass topper.
I think it’s a nice change, but I do miss admiring the old favorite ornaments. Also, we have to take out a lamp to make room for the tree, and the colored lights don’t light up the room the way the white ones do. So next year, I propose we do two trees. His “concept” tree can go in the foyer and the white light, old fashioned tree can go back in the living room. Where it belongs. Not that I’m bitter.
Here’s a look at the pre-decorating process:
Merry Christmas, everybody!
