Louie & Johnnie’s Cheesesteaks and Clam Bar is a little like a booth on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore: you can get cheesesteaks, raw and cooked clams and a very handsome order of fries.
These are the “Housemade Mikey Fries,” with sausage, broccoli rabe and cheese. You can also get “Housemade Johnnie Fries,” topped with diced red onion, bacon and melted cheddar cheese served with ranch dressing. No, I don’t know how I was able to resist.
The place is in a strip mall in Eastchester.
There’s a long counter with red swivel stools on one side and tables on the other.
The layout is similar to a coffeeshop, except that here, the countertop is granite.
We ordered the cheesesteaks and the clams.
With bacon.
We shared a half-cheesesteak:
It was still enormous.
Hey, is this the kind of food you want to eat every day? No. But when you choose to, Louie and Johnnie’s is a darn good place to go. Very tasty indeed. And the owners were really very nice, too:
