Corned Beef and Irish Whiskey on St. Patrick’s Day

Kris and Tom know how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Green beer? Green bagels? Pshaw. They make a nice cocktail with Irish whiskey and serve Tom’s great grandmother’s Irish Soda Bread.

Not to mention a healthy helping of Corned Beef, which, yes, of course they brined and boiled themselves, thank you very much.

More of their fabulous party, after the jump.

So Sam and I arrive around 430, perfect after a little walk around downtown. Tom is ready with the shaker.

The cocktail is called The Emerald. Tom riffed off the Esquire recipe here, but used Cointreau, too.

Kris has the table decorated in her usual fashion: pretty flowers, pretty tableware, pretty tablecloth (another family heirloob, I’m told.)

Tom with the Irish Soda Bread. Yes, it was outrageous.

Kris is always happy to keep Sam occupied!

Supper is served! The corned beef, above, and these yummy vegetables:

No joke!

Cuties!

Nah, two wouldn’t be hard, right Sally?

And a grand time was had by all.
