Gin and Tonic Recipe

Our gin and tonic recipe is probably like a lot of people’s gin and tonic recipes: gin, tonic, lime.

But we do prefer Tanguerey, and 2 ounces, please. And we insist on either Schweppes or, even better Q Tonic. Also, we squeeze our 1/4 lime slice right into the drink. (Cut the lime in half. Put the cut halves down and cut them in half again. You have 1/4 lime slice.) Lately, we like to use an iced tea spoon (sterling, of course) to turn the drink over just a little before serving.

Here, for the record, then, is our recipe.

Sour Cherry Farm’s Gin & Tonic

lj080915gin01

Ice
4 ounces Tanguerey gin
1 small bottle Schweppes or Q Tonic
2 quarter-slices lime

To make the quarter-slices lime, cut the lime in half along the equator, then turn the cut sides down and cut them in half again.

Fill 2 highball glasses with ice. Pour 2 ounces gin into each. Divide the small bottle of tonic evenly between the two glasses. Squeeze the quarter lime slice into the liquid and drop the lime into the glass. Using a sterling silver iced tea spoon, or a tall spoon or a chopstick, don’t stir, but rather turn the drink over gently once or twice. Serve immediately.
