We sampled a bunch of local wines and had a simple backyard supper with the neighbors, enjoying a little respite from the heat wave. Finally.
The results, after the jump.
Prospero 2008 white merlot:
Strawberry nose and light pink orange color. Floral and honey notes — sweet but not cloying.
Prospero White Syrah:
Deep pink, oak on the nose. Vanilla and smoke, with notes of cherry. A dry finish.
Pleasantville White Table Wine:
Golden yellow. Melon, lemon and vanilla with a tart, acidic finish.
Prospero 2008 Finger Lakes Riesling:
Not good. If you can get past the gasoline, there’s a little pear there. Otherwise a one-note johnny.
Viognier 2009:
Light color with tropical notes of mango and pineapple. It’s luscious but not syrupy.
And finally, the chadonnay cremosa:
A big nose, but not a big wine. Vanilla and butter. Creamy, but not thick.
All in all, only one clunker. Not bad for a small local winery that gets its grapes from elsewhere.
The hunna with some melon.
