Reece got a new iPod Touch before he left for Boston. Boy did it come in handy for making movies of swimming fish at the New England Aquarium!
Most of the aquarium is built around a massive cylindrical tank. A sloping walkway circles up and around it so you can view the fish as they swim around and around and around. (Look! A castle! Look! A castle!)
But when you first enter, you come to what I found to be the most entertaining exhibit at the aquarium: the penguins!
Best part: it was feeding time.
I couldn’t get over how much they looked like standing-up ducks. When they swam, they could be almost twin species, except for the flippers.
Check them out in action:
Here’s a different species, which seemed to have been trained to wait for their food with their flippers outstretched. They looked so funny!
Good times.
Reece used a lever to make this little light shaped like a fish dance around the bottom of the pool. The penguin chased it like a cat on a mouse.
Cool fish:
Fun with the iPod:
Shark!
Enormous turtle:
I swear he was waving at me in this photo!
Manatee:
Boo!
Peek-a-boo!
Now we’re at the top of the tank, and you can see the coral:
There are also other little tanks at the top level:
Some jellyfish:
Listening to noises of the sea:
And as we left, it was cold and dark:
But we bundled up for one last photo by the harbor:
