We took our third and final bee class at Stone Barns. We always learn a little something, even if the class is geared toward absolute new-bees. Get it? New-bees?
This class we learned the best way to check for mites is to collect a bunch of bees in a jar and sprinkle them in powdered sugar. They mites will fall off into the sugar. When you let the bees go, you can spill the sugar out onto a white cardboard and count your mites.
Here’s a look at our class, and a few photos from Stone Barns, too. (Love those pigs!)
