Deji NYC, a fledgling restaurant that serves at Brooklyn Flea, among other pop-ups, came to The Parlor in Dobbs Ferry on a Monday night, serving such twists on American, Korean and even Canadian food as Poutine, Kimchi Waffles and a spicy dry ramen called Mazemen. Here’s a look at what we had.
Poutine (the best dish of the night):
Pork buns, served on potato bread:
Definitely could have used some maple syrup.
Mazemen:
This got better after it was all mixed together in one spicy mess.
This version was way better, mostly because the maple butter helped it not be dry, and the kimchi gave it a nice funky kick.
All in all, good, not blow-your-mind. But I applaud them for creative thinking, and I bet with practice they’ll do even better.
