Flex Mussels on the Upper East Side is a great little neighborhood joint that serves mussels a million ways. We had the occasion to try it because we were heading to the 92nd Street Y to watch Ira Glass interview Dan Barber about Dan’s new book, “The Third Plate.”
Greg noted the Emeco chairs:
At first I thought our seat was in Siberia, but by the time we finished dinner, the whole dining room was full and we were chatting with our table neighbors. As you do.
North Haven and Pemaquid oysters. Heaven.
Perhaps SCF fans will remember our trip to North Haven: North Haven, Maine.
And also our trip to King Eider’s Pub, where we had Pemaquid oysters and they were the best of our lives.
Good times in Maine. We loved that the oysters brought us right back there with their taste.
The mussels were terrific! Greg got the Southern style, which had yummy bacon, collards and corn:
I got the Bombay mussels, which had curry, cinnamon and star anise. Delishy!
Highly recommended restaurant.
