Kelli and I had dinner at the Dylan Lounge at X20 in Yonkers on Friday, and I’m happy to report that the food is as good as ever there.
Jack Rose highball:
A gin highball with Creme Yvette, sort of like an Aviation but with ice:
Both delicious.
Corn panna cotta with bacon and jalapeno:
Summery, creamy and sweet, with a nice pick-me-up from the jalapeno and crunch from the bacon.
Tuna tartare with a quail egg:
A nice umami from the broth, and the creamy quail egg only added to the rich tuna.
Yellowtail jalapeno roll:
We were in the mood for some sushi, so ordered that roll, plus the scallop sashimi below with truffle:
All very fresh and satisfying.
The pate “grand mere”:
Fois and pistachios mixed in, served along with spicy mustard and cornichons. Terrific.
Barely poached white tuna sashimi with sea beans and a warm broth:
Unctous and sweet. Made me very happy.
Heirloom tomatoes with mozzarell and kale:
Just as a caprese should be, with milky mozz and sweet tomatoes.
A look at the Dylan Lounge from our seats:
Another tuna dish, a special of seared tuna over a pineapple-shisho salad:
Good combination with the sweet and herbaceous salsa.
Quail over spaetzle:
The apricot sauce on top balanced the meaty quailty of the quail nicely.
Butterscotch pudding:
Rich and decadent. Much like X20 itself!
Kelli, as she’s waiting for the train:
Good times.
