Dinner at Adalaya

Right down the stairs from Dear Irving is a little Mediterranean restaurant, where we shared small plates, rose and lots of laughs.

Funny sign by the bar:

It was a beautiful night, so we took a table on the street:lj071315adalya03

Reasonable prices, attractive menu with lots of options. Seasonal cooking, too.lj071315adalya04

Christy and Greg. Is she trying to scare him?lj071315adalya05

Shakshuka. Sorry, it doesn’t hold a candle to the one at Art Cafe.lj071315adalya06

Fried calamari and artichokes. Good! Nice aioli, too.lj071315adalya07

Tuna Flatbread. Boo’s favorite dish. A little crackly and dry for me. (Sorry Boo!)lj071315adalya08

Meatballs. Sort of sweet, but nicely balanced.lj071315adalya09

Lamb Flatbread. Better than the tuna, I thought. More assertive flavor from the lamb, and the feta was nice and tangy.

Shrimp. Not bad!lj071315adalya11

All in all Adalaya wouldn’t be my top pick for a meal, even in the neighborhood, but it suited our needs just fine. The wine was flowing, friends were laughing, and the night was magical.
