A fabulous and fun party at the New Museum in Manhattan to celebrate the launch of the The Thin Edge bed, from the George Nelson Bedroom Collection, the first joint venture between Herman Miller and Design within Reach.
George Nelson was the design director for Herman Miller from the late 40s to the early 70s, and ushered in the era of American modern furniture. He’s also said to have enjoyed a nice martini.
The original Thin Edge Bed collection launched in 1948 with a daybed, similar to one George Nelson had designed for his own home. Twin and full-size Thin Edge beds after that. The beds were sold from the mid 50s to the mid 60s.
I covet this Multitone Rug — designed by Hella Jongerius for Danskina by Maharam — and wish it for Samantha’s room.
A fun party, and, from what I hear, a successful one, too. #newnownelson!
