You guys know I’m a freak for Ranch Dressing, right? Well enough with the Hidden Valley crap. I really can’t, in good conscious, keep it in my refrigerator any more. Here’s what I’m going to make instead.
Liz’s Homemade Ranch Dressing
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablepsoon fresh dill
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
Zest of half a lemon
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2-3 dashes Tabasco sauce
2-3 dashes Worchestershire
Freshly ground pepper
Chop the garlic finely, then sprinkle a pinch of salt on top of it. Use the flat part of the knife to rub the garlic and salt together along the cutting board, fanning them out together so they blend into a paste.
Combine the garlic paste, sour cream, buttermilk, mayonnaise, dill, chives, lemon zest, lemon juice, Tabasco, Worchestershire and pepper in a large bowl. Whisk to combine.
Store in the refrigerator until it smells off, up to two weeks.
Serve with a beautiful head of cauliflower. On wings. On salads. Even as a dipping sauce for pizza. (Really. Try it.)
