About once every 10 weeks, our team of food friends — Tom, Kris, Irene, Suzie, Joe, Moriah and Keith — cook for Sunday Suppers.
Sunday Supper, a program to feed people who need a meal in Nyack, is held at Living Christ Church at 5 p.m. every Sunday. We cook for about 25 people, set up tables, serve the food and clean up. It’s more restaurant-style than buffet.
It took us a while to figure out a system, but now we have it down: two team members do the planning and shopping, then everyone else shows up to help cook. Irene and I are a team. It was our turn.
With summer heat in mind, we planned a meal that would not require turning on the oven. Shrimp rolls, corn-bean salad and tomato salad. We also served potato chips.
This is the dining room.
