Cedars Cafe in Melbourne

Suzy, being the food writer at Florida Today, knows how to pick a restaurant. And, not surprisingly, chefs know how to treat Suzy when she picks their restaurant. We arrived at Cedars Cafe in Melbourne, and the table was already overflowing with food.

Humms, labne, kibbeh, cauliflower, pita, phyllo with goat cheese — just amazing!

The restaurant serves Lebanese food with a modern twist.

A few closeups:

Afterwards, chef Toni Elkhouri brought out her James Beard-award winning burger, which took made it to the top 5 in a contest that asked chefs to make a burger blended of meat and mushrooms. She made hers with portobello, shiitake and cremini mushrooms.

She also served a seared tuna salad with goat cheese and foraged greens.

And for dessert, a flourless chocolate cake and baklava.

All fabulous and fun!
