It has come to my attention that despite the vast array of cocktail recipes I have added to this site, we have never posted a recipe for the classic martini. Time to correct that. We like Tanqueray gin and Dolin vermouth, but we’re not particularly fussy either.
Martini
2 1/2 ounces gin per drink
Dry Vermouth
Ice
Place cocktail glasses in the freezer. We like coupes and Nick and Noras.
Fill a 800 ml cocktail pitcher about halfway with ice. Pour vermouth over to coat the ice. Swirl the vermouth around and spill it out into the sink. Add to the pitcher 2 1/2 ounces of gin for each drink you are making. Using a bar spoon, stir the gin and the ice together until the gin is very cold and the ice just gives off some water.
Strain into chilled cocktail glasses and garnish with a lemon twist.
