Salvator Mundi at the Post-War & Contemporary Art Sale at Christie’s

At the Rolls Royce event the evening before, I met Dan, who works for Christie’s, which is representing the seller for the Darlington Mansion. Our conversation turned to Christie’s sale of Salvator Mundi, what is said to be one of only 20 remaining paintings in the world by Leonardo Da Vinci. I had to see it before the auction.

A long line.

Salvator Mundi!

Other artworks in the auction, which had an morning session and an afternoon session.

A 42-carat Cartier diamond.

A Hopper.

Mondrian:

The Gates!

Many impressionist paintings:

Calder.

Renoir.

Kandinksy:

Rothko, obviously.

Pollock:

More Rothko.

Currin.

Basquiat:

Serra.

El Greco.

Warhol.

Some information about Salvator Mundi.

So glad I got to see it. And the other works, too. I vow to make Christie’s a regular stop.
