What a great little spot right on the Hudson River. Hudson Farmer & The Fish serves superb seafood and creative cocktails in a modern setting with stunning views of the Hudson. It’s the perfect place to hole up for an hour or two and just get away from it all.
Which is exactly what we did, starting with this smoky gin drink, a fun take on the Moscow Mule.
Lovely oysters.
Normally I don’t like to mess with a classic, but this take on frisee aux lardons includes fingerling potatoes and sweet scallop, and adds just enough to make it different, but not so much that it’s not recognizable. A very good balance — and completely delicious.
Mussels.
Plump, fresh, satisfying.
The only small ding we’ll give is to the short rib. Though tasty, a bit dry.
We also tried the chowder, which was steamy and creamy. Sweet clams, potatoes done perfectly.
There really isn’t a bad seat in the house.
Pete, our bartending friend, was a most excellent companion as well.
