What a classic place. Melon’s, as everyone calls it, has been around since the 70s, and is known for one thing: the hamburger.
It’s a great old bar, with green striped tablecloths and photos, paintings, signs and sculptures of melons everywhere.
Wait times are notoriously long, it’s cash-only, and the beverage selections are meager at best. (I asked for a bloody mary and it was fully 3/4 vodka with a splash of tomato. OK, thanks! But not a bloody mary!)
But the burger is all that. And so is the rest of the menu.

And once again, that burger.
It’s crispy on the outside, buttery and juicy on the inside, covered in melty cheese and surrounded by a bun that’s toasty yet squishy. Yum.
I think most everyone is in agreement with that.
