Ken Auletta, the journalist — and SUNY Oswego alum — was honored by the Society of Silurians with a Lifetime Achievement Award. A few of us at The Record recently joined the Silurian Society, but I had another reason for wanting to attend the event, which was held at The National Arts Club. Right after college, Boo worked for the Aulettas as Ken’s assistant and nanny to their daughter, Kate.
So naturally, I invited Boo to come along. Everyone was thrilled to see each other again.
The cocktails before the dinner were, as often is the case, the best part of the evening. We got to know Binkie, the literary agent and Ken’s wife, and, best of all, Kate, who now lives in Westchester with children of her own. Congrats to Ken! His acceptance speech was a winner, too.
