You’d never expect to find great food in a strip mall near the railroad tracks in Blauvelt. But there you have it. At Lanie Lou’s, they roast their own turkey, bake their own bread and make desserts from scratch. And it shows. The food is just terrific. Simple, but terrific. Here’s my roast turkey sandwich on country bread with hand-cut fries:
Kelli and I were there for lunch. She had the grilled shrimp wrap with fresh baby spinach, tomato and crumbled blue cheese and sweet potato fries:

The restaurant is known for its desserts — in fact it started out making brownies and selling them online — so we knew we couldn’t skip sweets. We were not disappointed.

Everything was just terrific. I highly recommend Lanie Lou’s for a great lunch or even a casual dinner. They recently got a liquor license and so you don’t even have to forgo your glass of wine.
