By 5 p.m., quitting time and cocktail hour, both, we had mad much progress:
This included measuring and leveling several jagged corners:
And also tamping and leveling the sand underneath the brick:
What a pain that part is, let me tell you. It takes two people to slide that 2 by 4 across two frames (see them sticking out of the sand?) and then removing the frame and filling the space with rock and sand. Come take a look, after the jump.
So this is on a different part of the patio, but you get the idea. The long black line is where the 2 by 4 used to be.
Greg fills the space with rock:
And then puts another 2 by 4 on top of that, hitting it with a hammer to tamp the rock down:
Then it gets filled with sand and leveled off again. Removing the framing was definitely our least favorite part of the project.
