We had the folks over for burgers on Sunday night. It was still so hot that we moved the table into the shade of the garage and put the umbrella out. We ate by the apple tree and the grapevine.
We had a grand old time celebrating the grand old flag at Lettie’s on Independence Day. We grilled. Drank wine. And laughed. Tons.

An intern at the paper, Colin Muldoon, brought in some flowers for both Karen and me after his time with us. Very sweet. And very pretty, too!

Saturday night supper was an all-local affair, with pork chops from Dines, polenta from Wild Hive and greens from Long Island.
After four nights with Jessica and Kelly, we spent the final evening of our Texas trip at the sister outpost. We saw some bees, ate some tacos, and, afterwards, spit some watermelon seeds. Mae especially enjoyed that part.
