We have revised our old recipe for the Aviation cocktail. We now include both creme de violette and maraschino liqueur in our ingredients.
UPDATE 9/29/12: We are now revising the recipe again. We find the brand of creme de violette pictured here (and the most available in the US) is a bit too syrupy for the former formula. We are taking it down to 1 teaspoon per 3 ounces of gin.
For 2 drinks:
3 ounces gin
1 ounce maraschino liqueur
1 ounce lemon juice
1 teaspoon creme de violette*
We tripled that for this batch of 6 cocktails.
Combine all in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry. Or two.
