Spring at the Farm: Forget Me Nots, Asparagus, Apples, Black Currants and French Tulips

Spring has sprung at the Farm, and we are hoping for some good crops this year. Everything seems to be about two weeks behind  — it’s been so cold and rainy. But here’s a look at what is blooming. Let’s start with the Forget Me Nots. Such a pretty light blue, aren’t they?

Here’s a look down Sour Cherry Farm Way, with the evening light dappling on the grass:

The white French Tulips are stunners:

From rear to front, we have Queen of Night, La Courtine, Gudoshink, Daydream and Couler Cardinal.

The Stresa already came and went. (You can see them in bloom in this post.)

The bushy plant in the center is Yarrow, which Bill Cary gave me last year. On either side are the gooseberry bushes, which I cut to the ground this spring. They have not performed for us, ever, and we’re frankly a little fed up. This is their last chance in this location. If they get sick or don’t produce, we’re either getting rid of them or moving them. Also in the photo is a sedum, ‘Autumn Joy.’

Under the pear tree, we have the forget me nots, the white daisies, the elderberry bushes, a pyrethrum, some balloon flower and a columbine that’s about to bloom.
