After browsing the Saveur drinks Tumblr for a while, we headed on over to the Friday Cocktails section on the Saveur website. There, we discovered another twist on a cocktail called the Ginger Gold Rush. We liked the thinking of swapping out honey with a ginger liqueur.
(It) adds an exotic kick without the need for a flavored syrup or bitters, resulting is a bright spicy note that plays well with the oaky bourbon. — Savuer
All fine and dandy but we had a feeling it was a little too much ginger. So we swapped their ratios for ginger and bourbon and came up with a lovely cocktail, indeed.
Ginger Gold Rush
1 1/2 ounces Bourbon
1 ounce ginger liqueur (like Domaine de Canton)
1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice
Brandied cherry, for garnish
Put the brandied cherry in the bottom of a martini glass. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain over the cherry into the glass.
