Another feast day in the books. This year, we shared the holiday with Chris, Lexi, Suzanne and Alice. I think our menu was like a lot of people’s this year: we were inspired by the Times food section, which featured an all-Melissa Clark extravaganza. We made her cranberry sauce and her stuffing, both of which were outstanding. Mom made Brussels sprouts with maple and bacon, and a squash puree. The turkey, everyone declared, was among the best they’d ever had. No recipe this year, just a dry brine and some herbs under the skin. Here are this year’s pics.
Good morning, farm! Greg working on a wood cut for handmade block-print cards he’s making. Oak leaf hydrangea. Flash! Pre-dinner cocktails. Leigh, Alice and Suzanne. Larchmont Charcuterie’s pate and smoked duck, plus rosemary ham, marcona almonds and Castelvetrano olives. Oysters from Real Oyster Cult. Loved! Lexi and Flash. Melissa Clark’s Stuffing Cranberry sauce with pomegranate. Turkey. Table. Bar. Carving this year’s bird. Dark and white. The brown meal, with a little red and green. Our gang. And guess who lost her front tooth! Arthur, in a photo on the fridge. Family photo. The Holt men.
