The Heron in Narrowsburg

Pimento cheese. Buttermilk fried chicken. And yet, a classic Reuben! The Heron, an adorable little restaurant in an adorable little town, brings together Southern and classic cuisine, and does so with a creative, farm-to-table bent.

Shirley Temples are served in Mason Jars.

And the wine list is very good. This rose is a Blaufrankisch.

Mushroom soup was creamy and earthy, and warmed us on a chilly day.

Kid-friendly chicken fingers were adult-worthy as well.

More chicken, this time in wing form. Delicious!

The Reuben was indeed classic, and tasty. Salad ‘sted fries.

We also ordered pimento cheese, but I forgot to photograph that. It was a very good version, indeed.
