A check-in with the garden in mid-August. We know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but after last year’s construction site-slash-pit in the backyard, it’s nice to just sit back and enjoy a summer on the patio. Here’s a look.
African Blue Basil:
Some yellow cosmos and pink phlox, with the nepeta and a couple of amaryllis growing low:
Alyssum, which I planted from seed this year!
Fig, lemon verbena, cosmos, limelight hydrangea:
Hi kids!
More African Blue Basil, along with a couple of cone flowers, some Russian sage and a coreopsis:
The lone gladiola:
A real mess. Where I threw all the plants I didn’t know what to do with after dividing. Coneflower, white daisies, way too many forget me nots and columbine:
Pears!
Asparagus:
Orange cosmos:
Pink hydrangea:
Let’s put a cocktail table here soon!
The red-headed stepchild of my garden beds: the one by the garage. We planted a pear tree there this spring, and there are also coneflowers, bee balm and these fantastic black eyed susans:
And a butterfly bush:
A work in progress, my friends. A work in progress.
