Lots of beautiful things blooming at Sour Cherry Farm (and lots of weeds, too!). Here’s a look.
Peonies, gorgeous as always:
Coneflowers, making their way:
The baby cherry tree is loaded!
So is the Northstar. Catmint and sage looking good below:
A few baby phlox, plus the nepeta:
A cosmo grows!
Phlox and coneflowers:
Cherries! Hints of red:
We went with white and pink geraniums this year, plus a few spikes of
Big relief that the oak leaf hydrangea has some life left in it yet. It looks to me like something is blooming on every stalk. After the winter we had, and the trauma of transplant, I’m not surprised that it took quite a beating.
I added a hosta, ‘Frances,’ to the mess that is the bed by the hose. What a mess! Any ideas welcome.
Iris!
Hopefull this tangled mess of branches will be a big, beautiful oak leaf hydrangea next year.
Red Currants!
Still a bit of a fern takeover over here, but the hydrangea in the center is getting bigger, and soon will be enough so that we can pull some of the other fillers:
Another new hosta:
Ninebark flower. Beautiful!
The ninebark is getting so big! Look back to when we planted it! Post: The Farm Gets New Plants!
We also moved a big bleeding heart that was hidden behind the Ninebark. We split it into three plants. One by the oak leaf hydrangea, one in front of the ninebark (this one), and one by the variegated lacecap hydrangea.
Part of the bleeding heart division:
The Variegated Lacecap Hydrangea. We haven’t had a bloom on this since we planted it, so I hope this is the year!
Weedy asparagus bed and some self-seeded cosmos:
The asparagus that we planted last year, in hopes it would rejuvenate the bed, which also took a beating the winter of 2013-4.
Yay! The hydrangea that we moved last year is doing well!
Some coneflowers:
A few cosmos. Not sure what happened to the Night Scented Stock that I planted last year? And the Mexican Tuberose?
Happy the cosmos are back (and so is the Joe Pye. Bane. of. my. Existence.).
Is that coreopsis next to the hosta? I can’t remember now!
Butterfly bush is finally coming back!
Yarrow, a gift from Bill Cary. It keeps on giving!
Peonies and Russian sage:
I have to remember to move this tickseed. It’s getting lost under the Russian sage:
The big picture:
Having this patio has changed our lives. Truly! Happy gardening!
